Terms of service

These terms cover your use of the STLD mobile app (“STLD”, “the app”), made by TinyApp Technologies LLP (“we”). By using STLD you agree to them.

The app

STLD keeps track of shared expenses and works out who owes whom. It is free to use. The AI features, which fill in an expense from a receipt, your voice or a sentence and write spend summaries, come with a limited number of free uses. You sign in with Google or Apple so a group can be shared across everyone’s phones.

Who can use it

You need to be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms. If you are not, a parent or guardian needs to agree for you.

STLD does not move money

This is the most important part of this page. STLD is a record of what people owe each other. It is not a payment service, a bank or a wallet. It holds no money and never moves any between anyone. Marking a debt as settled records that you say it was settled; it does not pay it. How you actually pay each other is between you.

It is not financial or legal advice

What the app shows is arithmetic on the figures you and your group entered. It is not advice, it does not decide who owes what as a matter of law, and it settles no disputes. If a disagreement over money matters, sort it out between yourselves rather than by pointing at a screen.

Accuracy is shared

STLD is only as correct as what is entered into it, and in a group that means what everyone enters. Any member can add, edit or delete anything in a group they belong to. That is deliberate, because a shared ledger that only one person can correct stays wrong. It also means someone else can change a number you relied on, so check before you settle. Every change is listed in the group’s activity.

When the app reads a receipt, turns speech into an expense or converts a currency, it is estimating. Treat the result as a starting point: the app always shows you what it filled in before saving it.

Your content

What you add to STLD stays yours. You give us permission to store it, sync it to your devices and to the other members of your groups, and send it to the services that run the app, including the AI provider when you use an AI feature, so that STLD can work. The privacy policy says exactly what goes where.

Your group can see your group

Everything you put in a group, including expenses, comments and attachments, is visible to every member of it. Do not add anything you would not want every member to see.

Adding other people

You can add people to a group by name before they have the app. When you do, you are recording your own view of a shared arrangement. Only add people who are part of it, and only invite people who want to be invited.

Fair use

The AI features have a usage limit, because each use costs us money to run. Do not try to get around the limit, automate the app, or use it to send anyone unwanted messages. We may suspend an account that does.

Availability

STLD is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We may change or discontinue it. Your ledger is kept on your phone as well as on our server, so the app keeps working without a connection, but we do not guarantee the service will always be available, and STLD should not be your only record of a significant debt.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, TinyApp Technologies LLP will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of STLD, including any payment made, withheld or disputed because of what it shows.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time, with one condition: we will not delete an account that still owes or is owed money in a group, because doing so would leave everyone else’s balances wrong. Settle up first. How deleting your account works.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, the app will tell you before the change takes effect. Using STLD after that means you accept the new terms.
